Who you are
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
- A deep understanding of different B2B models and pricing strategies
- 10+ years experience in corporate strategy, go-to-market, pricing and packaging or a related field
- Proven ability to translate customer insights into actionable strategies
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making
Desirable
- MBA or similar advanced degree
- Experience in a public company environment
- Experience in the geospatial industry
What the job involves
- Planet is seeking a Director of GTM and Business Model Strategy to play a critical role in accelerating our sustainable growth across diverse markets
- The Director of GTM and Business Model Strategy will help drive the objectives of the GTM Strategy team in assessing market opportunities, developing and implementing new business models, driving corporate strategy and measuring performance
- This person will work across Planet’s three Business Groups (D&I, Civil Government and Commercial) to support industry aligned market capture strategies aimed at accelerating sustainable growth
- The Director of GTM and Business Model Strategy will report to the Vice President, GTM Strategy and Investor Relations and work closely with other members of the GTM Strategy team
- This will be a highly cross-functional role that requires building relationships across the Company
- Help drive GTM Strategy team initiative to standardize GTM planning and market assessments across all three business groups (D&I, Civil Government, and Commercial)
- Develop pricing & packaging frameworks, options, and models that align to customer value and support overall corporate growth objectives
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and market research to identify emerging trends, assess competitor strategies, and inform strategic decisions regarding product positioning, pricing, and market entry
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize partner programs and business models, driving increased revenue and expanding market reach
- Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of go-to-market strategies and measure the value delivered to customers

Planet’s high resolution, high frequency Earth-imaging satellites make daily changes in the earth more visible, allowing the company to provide quick turnaround geo-spatial data to its customers. The company was founded by a group of former NASA employees driven by a desire to make global change more actionable by rendering it more visible.
Planet operates the largest Earth-imaging satellite network available, putting it ahead of any competitors. Its landmass data is easy to access, requiring only a subscription from its members - who range from ecological organizations, to private companies and government bodies. The company is also supporting SES and Telesat on their space relay projects for NASA.
The current focus of Planet seems to be on employing its network towards climate and environmental issues. A partnership with Accenture comes with the goal of developing AI-powered geospatial intelligence tools to support sustainability projects; and the company's acquisition of Salo Sciences will allow it to develop offerings around enabling customers to quantify carbon stocks, monitor forest change, and mitigate climate risks.
