Goldbelly's mission is to bring you comfort through food, whatever you dream of, wherever you are.
Goldbelly connects customers to their favorite specialty artisans, restaurants, and food makers from cities around the US, no matter where they're based. Unlike more traditional food delivery platforms, most of the food on Goldbelly comes from restaurants that previously hadn’t shipped their specialty items, so ordering via its platform is often the only way to access a dish, unless you happen to live in the same city.
Along with other food delivery apps, Goldbelly received a big boost during the pandemic from new customers and restaurant partners alike, although it has an edge over competitors as its model never depended on local services being inaccessible.
Moreover, whilst direct delivery is a high-cost model, Goldbelly has been assisted by its customer base accepting the relatively high product and delivery expenses. It appears to have consolidated a market lead in a lucrative niche, but it will need to continue to innovate to stay ahead. Huge competitor Uber has now caught wind of the strategy and has launched a nationwide shipping program in the US, and more companies are sure to follow suit.
