Who you are
- Minimum of 6+ years in finance, with 2+ years experience leading and developing teams
- Proven track record in building and growing outstanding finance teams with best practices in a fast-growing environment
- Quantitative & analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Deep experience working in high-growth environments with a proven ability to identify and drive impactful financial outcomes, and to manage complex projects across multiple teams
- Prior experience in a combination of investment banking, management consulting, and private equity strongly preferred

What the job involves
- We are looking for a leader to join our FP&S team as Sr. Manager, Financial Planning & Strategy - Tessera partnering with Tessera Data, a Checkr company
- In this role, you will be the primary finance lead for Tessera with full P&L responsibility, supporting teams across R&D, GTM, and Operations, while also driving strategic corporate initiatives
- Partner with Tessera Leadership by providing strategic thought leadership while delivering financial results and KPIs, identifying issues and emerging trends, and providing a breadth of insight and financial decision support
- Lead and conduct analyses to enable data-driven decisions that optimize business performance and solve complex business challenges
- Lead the planning processes, including strategic planning, for Tessera by highlighting key areas of long term opportunities while implementing scalable and consistent processes to enable operational excellence in business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Deliver quarterly analyses and reporting of the business' financial results and KPIs, including variances to plan, ensuring key issues, risks, and business drivers are understood and highlighted
- Build and lead a high-performing Tessera FP&S team
Our take
Checkr addresses the unpleasant and time consuming process of background checks so that companies using on-demand employees can make safer, more informed hiring decisions in less time. Background checks are a critical part of the hiring process, and CEO Daniel Yannisse noticed that they were painfully slow, resulting in loss of work for candidates and productivity downturns for employers.
Before Checkr entered the market in 2014 with its innovative AI technology and a solid $50m in venture capital funding, companies were waiting upwards of two weeks for their checks. Checkr substantially reduces this time frame and has grown to receive a $5 billion valuation.
Checkr has accelerated growth by making several highly advantageous acquisitions of competitor companies GoodHire and Inflection. As the world of work embraces diversity and inclusion, the company announced an end-to-end service for candidates wishing to expunge their criminal records, furthering the company’s ‘fair chance’ mission and clearing 1000s of candidates for free since 2021. New products launched at the end of 2023 include Checkr Pay (providing access to payment right after a shift) and Checkr Onboard (unified onboarding processes), exemplifying how Checkr is keeping pace with a rapidly changing, flexible, and mobile-first workforce.
