What the job involves
- In this strategic role, you'll build a deep understanding of the product and customer: who they are, their pain points, and how Writer solves their pain
- You'll develop product messaging across platforms — from strategy to execution (free, pro, team, enterprise)
- This is a highly cross-functional role that requires a close partnership with our product, sales, and marketing teams, as well as talking directly to users to understand their needs
- This role reports to our head of product marketing
- You’ll be part of a small but powerful marketing team, building the program from the ground up
- Help us take complex, innovative new products to market — craft the narrative and launch strategy, create messaging and positioning, dive into the technical ins and outs, and enable our sales and CSM to drive pipeline and adoption
- Develop product positioning and messaging that resonates with our target buyer personas in collaboration with PM and GTM teams
- Deeply understand our customers, their attitudes and motivations, top use cases for generative AI, and the value they get from the platform
- Work with sales enablement to enable our reps to speak as experts about our technical products and their core differentiators
- Be an expert on our competitors, their capabilities, and how we position Writer against them
- Create priority assets like product pages, sales decks, case studies, and more
Our take
AI-assisted writing tools have taken off over recent years. With the likes of high-exposure company Grammarly accelerating adoption of such tools, a flurry of startups have appeared to offer their own takes. Writer’s angle is to leverage AI as a means of standardizing and scaling both content and communications for business teams. The tool offers autofilling and inline suggestions that keep content aligned with pre-determined company language and style guides.
This branded fine-tuning function distinguishes it from full copy-generation competitors, as well as from Grammarly itself, which is a more generalist copyediting tool. It subsequently caters to major enterprise clients looking to maintain standards across multiple and sprawling teams, and the company has managed to net major clients like Deloitte, Twitter, UiPath, and Accenture.
While AI-related buzz remains solidly around generative AIs like ChatGPT and Bard, Writer's narrow target market - in which it has already found success - supplies plenty of scope to grow, as AI copyediting tools look set to rapidly become content industry standard. With continued new launches and updates to its offerings as well as an impressive $100 million Series B awarded in 2023, the company is well-placed to seek further success into the future.
