Who you are
- Proven track record as an analyst with a wide range of experience under your belt with previous experience in a digital marketplace and/or mobile first environment
- An analytical mind with great problem solving skills and a love of numbers
- Strong commercial awareness and a proactive attitude to make a difference and drive impact
- Strong proficiency in SQL and the ability to work with large, complex and sometimes fragmented datasets
- Strong understanding of at least one digital channel: search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), or paid social and familiarity with associated tools such as Google Analytics, Mobile Measurement Partners, etc
- Experience building and using complex user attribution and marketing mix models to understanding marketing ROI
- The ability to communicate complex problems and analysis simply with a variety of stakeholders and act as a bridge between technical and non-technical colleagues
- Experience delivering in a high performing, data-driven product team
- A hunger to learn, natural curiosity and a keen eye for detail
- A strong sense of ownership and highly organised nature
What the job involves
- We are currently looking for a number of Business Analysts to join our Strategy & Marketing group, including a Senior Analyst to support our digital marketing efforts (paid and SEO)
- Senior Analysts at Depop are expected to work fairly autonomously, and produce polished outputs with limited supervision
- You may also be expected to take on support and mentorship of more junior analysts in the team
- Strategic thinking and direction-setting: you will be expected to become a thought partner for the Digital Marketing team, helping to identify growth and optimisation opportunities using a variety of data sources and analytical techniques. This includes working with other analysts in the team to develop and implement holistic and consistent ROI measurement techniques around complex topics like ROI, attribution, LTV, incrementality, audience targeting & saturation, etc
- Getting things set up and BAU support: You will work closely with our MarTech team to implement new tools and tracking across our digital ecosystem. You will help surface this data in our self-service BI tool Looker, train the team in new team-specific Looker functionality, support the team in tracking and analysing key trading and performance indicators around our digital marketing channels
- Campaign support: you will help our Paid and SEO teams design and test campaigns, and conduct post-campaign analysis to identify opportunities to optimise performance. The nature of post-campaign analysis will vary depending on the campaign, but may include setting up dashboards, user behaviour deep dives, and comparison of test and control groups (including possible multivariate analysis)
- Making sure the business knows the numbers: you will become a key point of contact for our Digital Marketing team and wider business for all things data, and you will engage with various stakeholders across the business to ensure decisions are as data-driven as possible

The re-sale market across everyday clothing, collectables and luxury is growing. One driving force of this is that people care more about sustainability and are therefore buying second-hand goods. This has resulted in a fast growing market with plenty of opportunity.
The experience on Depop is what you'd expect from platforms such as Instagram. The focus on social, creators and influencers has created a very high level of engagement.
Depop was quick to realise the value in power users and has focused efforts there (where people are generating up to $100,000 in annual income for themselves by selling items). The popularity of social platforms making individuals into entrepreneurs will likely attract interest from Instagram and Pinterest. This may pose a challenge for Depop as these competitors will be in a strong position to leverage their networks.
The company has been acquired by Etsy and is now focusing on strategic partnerships in several industries to keep market share flowing in.
