Though physical fitness is relatively accessible, the same is not true of mental fitness. You can pop into a gym during lunch for a spin class, but where can you go for a group workout for your emotions? That is a question that Coa hopes to answer with a range of accessible group and solo therapy sessions that are designed to give your mental health a workout.
The mental health tech space is crowded and Coa faces competition from therapy startups such as Talkspace, TwoChairs and Alma. However, Coa is one of very few startups founded and led by a licensed therapist which gives it unique expertise in designing its sessions. Its offering has certainly been met with enthusiasm from large clients, with Bloomberg, Spotify and American Express among the enterprises who've taken up its Coa at Work employee benefit program.
Coa has raised seed round funding led by Crosslink Ventures. It is using the investment to develop its product and is focusing on expanding its therapy matching service beyond California and New York. Coa is hiring talent in multiple sectors including engineering and marketing to help realize its ambitious plans to eventually open a physical mental health gym in every city in the USA.
