Role
Who you are
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience building software for backend systems
- Experience building, enhancing, and maintaining infrastructure for API based data exchange
- Experience building scalable backend technologies
- Strong communication skills; discussing complex technical concepts to engineers and non-engineers is no problem to you
- Strong desire to learn, think creatively, and share knowledge with others
- Ability to write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability
- Proactive and empathetic mindset - you love to roll up your sleeves to fix problems for our customers
- Completed formal training in computer science related discipline (Bachelors or Masters preferred)
What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer on our Integrations team, you will build systems and processes that manage connections to hundreds of payroll providers, and are the backbone for servicing 401(k) plans and making our customers happy
- As reliability is key to earning our customers’ trust, you will build robust systems that are observable, maintainable, and scalable
- Build robust infrastructure to support data exchange for almost half a million participants
- Explore third-party payroll systems to learn how our partners share their data with us
- Interface with third party providers in the space to collaborate on technical solutions
- Write clean, high-quality code and tests to keep our system fast, reliable, and monitorable
- Participate in development life cycle activities like design, coding, testing, and production release
- Contribute to our evolving engineering standards, tooling and processes
- Contribute to our new SOA and be a valuable member of the team that builds new services from scratch
