Role
Who you are
- 3-4 years of experience at a consumer fintech company, big 4 accounting firm, or financial institution
- Comfortable analyzing large data sets and providing insights
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Proficient in Excel, experienced with SQL (required); experience building dashboards using visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and a strong client service orientation
- Good judgment and excellent interpersonal skills
- Business-focused mindset with a demonstrated ability to take ownership and resolve issues with minimal supervision
- Experience operating in a fast-paced environment and recognize and focus on critical issues

What the job involves
- We're looking for a Senior Analyst to join the Investor Operations Team
- This role will focus on providing data and analysis to investors who purchase across our five lending products
- This role will also assist with managing daily operations for our investors and will work closely with our sales, account management, finance, and product teams to provide best in class service
- The Investor Operations Team is part of the Investor Team based out of our San Francisco office and is responsible for daily operations, client service & account management, and providing data, reporting, and analytics to our institutional investors
- Provide data and analysis for capital markets requests - be a subject matter expert for data and reporting across our five lending products, working to productionalize product data in our data pipelines
- Develop data pipelines, dashboards and reporting tools (AWS Redshift, Tableau, Excel) to provide real-time insights into loan volume, investor demand, and collateral monitoring
- Work with product managers and engineers to ensure data integrity of investor reporting, timely delivery, and prioritization of new features
- Reconcile principal to cash activity within investor portfolios and provide feedback to improve processes through reporting enhancements and automation
- Suggest improvements to existing systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and enhance the investor experience
- Provide thought leadership and strategic insight as we scale the platform and the team
Our take
Most credit cards don't encourage the owner to pay down their debt. The longer it takes to pay off the balance, the more money lenders are set to make. Upgrade is an online lender and card issuer doing things differently. The company offers personal loans and credit cards but with a fixed instalment structure and a set number of equal payments. This ensures the balance reduces every month.
The company believes this model reduces default rates, as borrowers are forced to pay down rather than maintain their debt, and it encourages a greater commitment to repay the balance. Further, by combining the ease of a Visa card with the fixed payments and decreased rates of a personal loan, Upgrade sets itself apart from competitors.
In 2021, Upgrade launched its mobile banking and debit card as a strategy to onboard new customers and increase loyalty. The fixed-rate nature of the company's cards is expected to be of use to customers in future years in an environment of rising rates. Upgrade also plans to expand beyond the U.S. in the future, which will represent new challenges for the business as it adapts to alternative regulations.
