You have 1 to 3 years of experience using and building web APIs

What the job involves

BuzzFeed's RevTech team is a highly visible team that contributes directly to the company’s earnings and supports our Business department through the full life cycle of Advertising and Commerce products
The team works across all sites and tech teams and collaborates closely with the Business Department
You’ll report to the Engineering Lead for our Revtech Infrastructure team, surrounded by passionate people who are generous with their time and want to help you grow at BuzzFeed
You’ll work with engineering, product, design, and data colleagues globally across time zones
You'll develop, optimize, and maintain critical services and API’s that power BuzzFeed’s Advertising and Commerce businesses
You'lll use a variety of languages and both internal and third party platforms
You'll partner closely with Product Managers, Product Analysts, and Designers to understand and shape work at all different stages of a project’s lifecycle
You'll build stable, resilient, and high performance software

Our take

BuzzFeed is an international media company reaching hundreds of millions of readers each month. The company started life as a platform for viral media, and quickly became known for its online quizzes, listicles, and pop culture articles. At its height, the platform received over 1 billion page views each month.

In 2011, the company launched BuzzFeed News, which won multiple accolades including the National Magazine Award and the George Polk Award before the 2023 announcement it would be shutting down. The closure of its News arm comes alongside similar troubles amongst its online news peers, and has been spurred along by a tough economy, a declining stock market, a slowdown in digital advertising, and changing audience habits.

Despite this considerable blow to its operations, BuzzFeed will continue its presence across YouTube, podcasting and other content, with hopes it will bounce back in the upcoming years. Interestingly, it was announced that HuffPost - which the company bought in 2020 - will continue to publish news as it remains profitable.
