Engineering Manager, Bread Financial

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
• 2 years experience managing and/or leading engineering teams
• 2 years experience with technical components utilized by the team (building scalable and reliable distributed systems, public web APIs and server-side languages and data stores such as Java, PostgreSQL, Redis, etc)
• Azure, React, Javascript and Mainframe

• The Engineering Manager on the Enterprise Architecture team will be in charge of developing and administering cloud technologies to assist in reducing delinquency
• This role involves leading initiatives and growing the talent and team as we transition from mainframe to azure
• Talent Management: Lead a team of highly engaged associates and contractors, ensuring that team meets or exceeds the defined role expectations
• Ensure that direct reports understand role expectations. Provide development to a team with ongoing coaching and feedback, performance management, career development and administrative support
• Coaching and mentoring development staff to enable them to reach their peak potential and cultivate high-performing teams
• Provide peer coaching and feedback formally and informally
• Request and utilize feedback to foster personal development
• Process and Technology: Use recognized industry models and methodologies to develop, execute, and continuously improve development practices in collaboration with all major stakeholder and functional roles

• Utilize the software development lifecycle to implement technology solutions that create and enhance applications
• Continuously improve applications and processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and user experience
• Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain organizational strategies that support current and future workforce, business, and financial needs
• Appropriately manage resource capacity and demand to meet business delivery and production support expectations
• Leadership: Act in a leadership role to provide guidance to the development team and act as a liaison for multiple areas of the business and external clients
• As necessary, work across the organization and function as Project Development Lead for enterprise-scale efforts
• Develop and maintain organizational strategies that support current and future workforce, business, and financial needs
• Relationship Management: Cultivate relationships across roles and organizations to maximize collaboration, partnership, and efficiency
• Provide peer coaching and feedback formally and informally.  Request and utilize feedback to foster personal development
• Technical Knowledge and Application: Expectation is to oversee at least two Golang microservices
• Business Support and Management: Support at least one business such as Credit Risk, Account Protection, Customer Care, etc. Maintain and manage one to two vendor relationships
• Reports to: Senior Manager, Engineering
• This position is currently hybrid 3-4 days per month and could change due to business needs
