Head of Tech, EdAid

• 5+ years experience of leading and building teams in a Lead or Head of role
• Experience in performing interviews and recruiting new team members
• Full ownership of the software delivery lifecycle
• Experience in cloud native environments
• Able to take business problems and work independently and/or delegate to solve these
• Using best practice to improve products/services or processes
• Experience of backend microservice architectures
• Experience of API first platforms
• Experience of Event based architecture
• Experience running a product support capability
• Fully comfortable with all aspects of project management
• Experiencing managing stakeholders
• Delivering software in a regulated/controlled environment
• Experience in Cyber Security and information security best practices
• Experience of attaining and maintaining SOC, FISMA or similar
• Excellent written and spoken English including public speaking experience
• The right to live and work in the UK

Desirable

• Strategically lead EdAid’s technology function, including infrastructure, information security and process, leveraging modern technologies where appropriate to ensure EdAid is a leader in the financial industry when it comes to technology. Be a champion of those technology choices across the floor
• Be a part of EdAid’s senior management team, attending Management Meetings, contributing and adhering to company OKRs and KPIs
• Present at whole company events including weekly/month team meetings
• Develop EdAid’s short, medium & long term strategy goals alongside other SMT members
• Oversee SOC compliance and own technical controls
• Be accountable for Information Security leadership across the business
• Manage external relationships for Daas, Cyber Security and Certification
• Own and delegate the risk management across the teams, identifying risk proactively within technology and delivery
• Mentor and nurture your team through effective 1:1 management
• Work closely with product teams to improve EdAid’s product offering and conversion
• Work with product and customer facing teams to prioritise work effectively, balancing engineering priorities with product features
• Manage tech initiatives to drive best practices and move the platform forward as a whole
• Work with the team to reduce cognitive load and enable quicker and easier delivery of customer value
• Ensure best practices are followed within the team to enable them to succeed in the EdAid eco-system
• Enable collaboration and innovation in the team and with stakeholders. Create an environment that drives positive energy and a mentality to succeed
• Execute leadership by example by performing hands-on development as well as peer reviews according to internal standards
• Lead stand-ups, prioritisation and team meetings as required
• Define metrics and ensure we can effectively measure success
• Devise and maintain a recruitment strategy ensuring that the size and capabilities of the team are adequate for EdAid’s needs as it grows
• Monitor and adapt change and incident management processes to ensure production SLA’s and regulatory requirements are met
