Role
Who you are
- Ever wanted to tell people, “Yeah, I helped launch the future of transportation”? Well, here’s your shot. At Vay, we’re flipping the script on mobility with Remote driving—delivering cars to customers with zero hassle and zero driver inside, offering a unique by the minute car rental service
- 6–8 years in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, consulting, or corporate development
- Exceptional modeling and Excel skills (SQL or BI tools are a plus)
- Strong executive communication and storytelling skills
- A track record of driving cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
- Experience in high-growth, operationally complex industries like mobility, logistics, fleet, or SaaS
- Sharp problem-solving skills with a knack for translating complexity into actionable insight
- CPA, CFA, or MBA is a plus, but not a must
- Low ego, collaborative spirit, and a strong bias for action
What the job involves
- In this pivotal role, you’ll help steer Vay’s financial strategy during a transformational period of growth. As Senior Manager, Strategic Finance, you’ll be a critical partner to leadership, bringing financial discipline to big-picture decisions, building robust forecasting frameworks, and helping shape the trajectory of our business
- You’ll blend deep financial acumen with cross-functional savvy to create clarity, drive impact, and move fast in an innovative environment
- Financial Planning & Analysis (50%)
- Lead annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecast processes
- Own and elevate management reporting—designing dashboards and reports that surface what matters
- Build dynamic models to forecast operating and financial outcomes (e.g., unit economics, labor efficiency, fleet utilization)
- Partner with Ops, Product, and Growth to support capital allocation, cost control, and revenue growth
- Corporate Development (25%)
- Support strategic transactions including fundraising, acquisitions, and partnerships
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to strengthen M&A and investment theses
- Collaborate on valuation models, due diligence, and post-deal integration planning
- Drive scenario planning and performance tracking to maximize deal value
- Strategic Decision Support (25%)
- Analyze complex challenges like pricing strategy, GTM expansion, and customer segmentation
- Build frameworks and models to assess tradeoffs and guide executive decision-making
- Partner across Product, Tech, and Ops to evaluate options and influence direction
- Present clear, compelling recommendations to senior leadership
Our take
Driverless cars are often considered as the future of transport, but the AI-driven innovation is not yet powerful and safe enough to be made publically available. Furthermore, it is anticipated that many people would not trust AI-driven driverless cars regardless of their state of development, preferring to know that a human is behind the wheel.
Vay develops autonomous driving hardware powered by "teledriving", a system in which cars are driven remotely by humans. The German company will begin by providing orderable cars that can be driven manually by the customer but parked remotely by Vay staff, with future use cases including full remote rides, ride-sharing, last-mile delivery, and public transport.
Whilst other companies such as Mobileye have made plans to provide driverless cars to German cities, Vay is standing out with its unique focus on the trust of teledriving. Furthermore, the initial focus on autonomous parking will greatly speed up rollout and give the company a competitive edge. 2024 funding is being used to expand its development team and grow its European market.
