Role
Who you are
- The successful candidate must have experience launching and growing SaaS platforms, with experience speaking to a highly technical audience
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of and experience with marketing tech such as Hubspot, SEO, and social media platforms
- 6+ years in digital marketing with hands on experience defining, leading, executing paid search/SEO, display, social, media campaigns
- 2+ years working in technology / SaaS marketing
- Strong understanding of the sales and marketing funnel; proven success of growing an audience and understanding how to convert it into sales opportunities & revenue
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud architectures and popular development tools, platforms, and/or relevant frameworks
- Experience with delivering content across key digital platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube
- Experience creating and distributing content of all types (blog, video, social, sales presentations, competitive, etc)
- Work closely with technical teams to deliver on innovative narratives and campaigns for social media channels
- You document everything and make it easy for others to find and take action against
- Bonus points if technologies such as HTTPS/TLS, certificates (X.509), and OAuth are not foreign to you
- Interest or passion to evangelize through speaking & writing
What the job involves
- Smallstep is seeking a Marketing leader who will spearhead our Go To Market strategy- defining and executing digital marketing, business development and partnership goals to launch and bring our product to our target market
- This role serves to drive growth in the online space by developing, implementing, tracking, and optimizing our content marketing campaigns across multiple channels to acquire and retain audiences/customers
- You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales teams to launch campaigns on time and on budget
- Define Go To Market Strategy for Smallstep including digital marketing, live + virtual events, and partnerships/co-marketing campaigns
- Identify appropriate channels to reach security executives and DevOps engineers; coordinate ad buys, creation of content and collateral, campaign execution and spend optimization
- Develop data-driven, multi-channel marketing strategies to acquire and retain users for Smallstep including Email/SMS, Paid Social/Search, and SEO
- Design performance reports and dashboards to influence strategy and demand planning, increase conversion metrics and optimize campaign performance
- Manage and analyze campaign KPIs; CAC, ROAS, LTV, ROI, team sign-ups, & revenue attribution
- Work with founder and leaders to engage with tech community via live or virtual events with the goal of identifying potential customer opportunities
- Source and provide strategic oversight to agency partners
- Work cross-functionally to develop product story-telling and engaging customer journey funnels across the Smallstep platform
- Devise innovative ways to engage audiences, including establishing market intelligence, audience personas and digital user journeys
- Manage the creative team to inform them of campaign performance and strategize on creative development with customer-centric direction
- Report to executives and key stakeholders on high level wins, challenges, and future plans strategies
- Utilize a data-driven approach to run marketing experiments and implement attribution models and reporting systems to support business decisions
- Explore new channels and platforms to explore untapped opportunities
Our take
With cloud migration and distributed working environments, digital spaces are more complex than ever, and establishing practical Zero Trust has become a priority for organisations. Unfortunately, managing certificates across whole and dispersed systems can prove difficult – this is a problem, because this is vital in fighting the modern aggressive nature of cyber-attacks. Smallstep delivers automated certification for development environments, with an open-source toolkit that can be employed with ease.
Development environments rely on certification to maintain security protocols, but it is difficult to maintain visibility or establish ownership for these certificates at scale. Smallstep’s infrastructure security service identifies everything and everyone and issues credentials automatically. The toolkit can also be employed to encrypt data and communications, and drives a strong security policy overall.
Funding raised by Smallstep will be used to build products, and also to accelerate research and development towards bringing new features and expertise to securing infrastructure, with aims to ultimately bring automated certificate management to all.
