Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of applicable experience, either within a Customer Success / Merchant Success capacity or as an Account Manager within the fintech or marketing/martech space
- Thrives in ambiguity, you are a self-starter who consistently re-evaluates your responsibilities and reprioritizes based on your assessment of what the company needs most
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, you have a proven capacity to influence and negotiate successfully with both internal and external stakeholders across various functions
- Acts as a creative problem solver, you play a key role in defining and driving the concept of customer success at Accrue. You are energized by the opportunity to explore new avenues and achieve revenue-generating results through innovative strategies
- Have an analytical mindset, you utilize data as a storytelling tool and easily distill data into actionable insights to enhance our strategies
- Highly resourceful, you get creative to find solutions and deliver results if you don’t know the answer
- Maintains a high level of organization and detail orientation, you have a system to clearly understand where projects are at and ensure nothing slips through the cracks

What the job involves
- Onboard Accrue's merchant partners and ensure they understand and see value in our business model
- Execute on strategies to grow performance across diverse merchant portfolios by driving product, marketing, best practice, and adoption
- Partner with engineering and design to identify growth opportunities, develop solutions, execute and report on performance
- Develop a framework for retaining and engaging merchants
- Perform analysis and make recommendations on growth activities and opportunities to merchants
- Be primary point of contact to merchant partners for reporting and performance needs
- Develop project level KPIs and reporting processes to ensure ongoing optimization
Our take
Over $100 Billion in sales were generated in 2021 by Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options, proving that alternative payment options are fantastic tools for retailers to entice customers. However, BNPL companies are starting to face stricter regulations after a backlash around many providers providing credit to those who cannot afford it. Accrue is taking a different approach with a Save Now, Buy Later product.
Instead of providing customers with credit to make purchases, Accrue is partnering with retailers to support savings behavior. Users set goals to purchase from Accrue partners. Meanwhile, those partners contribute to the purchase when a customer hits certain milestones.
At the moment, Accrue largely makes money at the point of purchase, through card interchange fees. However, to bring in serious revenue they will need to raise performance fees from merchants, which in turn requires demonstrating high order values for merchants. Accrue’s next steps are to expand retail partnerships and add employees across all departments, including engineering, sales, and marketing.
