Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and technically proficient Tax Manager
- Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience in public accounting, private or public companies, with progressive complexity in scope and responsibilities
- Certification: CPA or CA designation required
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations
- IPO Readiness: Experience in IPO readiness processes and involvement in IPO-related activities
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex topics clearly
- Proactive and Detail-Oriented: Ability to anticipate needs, identify opportunities, and work with a high level of attention to detail
- Tech-Forward Mindset: Enthusiasm for leveraging technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- System Experience: Proven experience implementing and managing sales tax engine systems (e.g., Avalara, Vertex) as well as Hands-on experience with finance and ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus)
What the job involves
- This individual will play a key role in supporting a growing tax function, building scalable processes, collaborating cross-functionally, strategic planning and tax optimization, and contributing to a strong internal control and reporting environment that meets the standards of a sophisticated, fast-growing SaaS company
- Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team
- Oversee global indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and other applicable indirect taxes
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize and automate indirect tax processes and workflows
- Lead the implementation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of sales tax engine systems to ensure accurate tax calculation and reporting across all finance systems
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and compliance service providers
- Collaborate with FP&A to develop accurate cash tax forecasts and indirect tax accruals
- Support international expansion by advising on VAT/GST registration, planning, and compliance requirements
- Manage indirect tax audits, voluntary disclosure agreements, including preparation of supporting documentation and audit defense strategies
- Establish and continuously improve indirect tax accounting practices and internal controls in alignment with GAAP and SOX requirements
- Prepare, review, and manage indirect tax accruals and maintain the tax compliance calendar
- Support the preparation of the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
- Contribute to all tax-related initiatives aligned with Fivetran’s growth strategy, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and industry best practices
- Champion the use of tax technology and automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability
