Role
Who you are
- Must be fluent in Italian
- You are a bachelor/HBO or master student in Business or related studies
- You are enrolled at an educational institution in the Netherlands for the entire duration of the internship
- Have prior working experience (e.g. internship or other working experience)
- Strong commercial mindset and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset and problem solving attitude
- A passion for the online industry or maybe have a collection yourself so that you are able to understand the language of our sellers
- Familiar with G Suite tools (Google sheet, slides)
- Knowledge of online streaming platforms (Twitch, Whatnot, Tiktok, etc.) a plus
- Fluent in English and in one other European Language (e.g. Dutch, Italian, French, German or Spanish)
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Commercial Intern to support us scaling a key initiative to drive growth at Catawiki: Catawiki Live
- Catawiki Live amplifies our regular auction dynamics through live streams where sellers and users gather around Live-Shopping format auctions
- As a Commercial intern, you will help build a strong seller lead pipeline for Catawiki Live, conduct seller onboardings, and support in scaling this initiative (seller analytics, providing insights and guidance to sellers towards growth)
- You are going to help us generate sustainable revenue opportunities by opening up conversations with new sellers that the Business Development team will work on to turn them into committed and fast-growing sellers. Your focus areas will be experienced Live-shopping sellers across Europe
- You will get to learn about the Commercial function at a marketplace (Sales, Category Management), focused on the early stages of our sellers’ journey. You will be part of the team leading a key growth initiative of a scale up
- Identify, qualify and develop leads through online monitoring, call, email and collaboration with sales representatives and experts
- Identify and activate high potential leads for Catawiki Live
- Onboard new sellers onto Catawiki Live, educating them on how to successfully sell on Catawiki Live specifically
- Facilitate a frictionless pre and post-Live experience for new sellers
- In cooperation with experts, quickly learn the important characteristics of categories
- Move in sync with internal stakeholders to develop growth plans for onboarded sellers
- Build educational content for the Catawiki Live Seller Academy, about how to sell on Catawiki Live and how to maximize sales through Live auctions

In the past, it was only possible to purchase special items such as rare coins, antiques, and vintage cars at auctions held at physical locations. These days, many people prefer online auctions, but whilst they provide a wider range of objects for sale, this comes at the cost of proper pricing and quality control. Catawiki provides an expert-regulated online auctioning marketplace where users can browse and bid for special objects easily via the web or mobile app.
The objects listed on Catawiki are curated, valued, and verified by in-house experts, with over 100,000 objects passing through the marketplace every week. In this approach, the company has combined the community knowledge found at traditional auctions with the benefits of digital auctioning platforms, occupying a space that has long remained empty, and avoiding competition from bidding marketplace giants such as eBay.
Catawiki has received good funding in the past, which contributed to it becoming the success it is today. A recent venture has seen the company expand to serve artisanal artists with its handmade products auction series.
