Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our finance team
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- Minimum of 3 years related accounting or finance experience, ideally within a fast-paced environment. Big 4 and operating experience is a plus!
- Strong familiarity with accounting principles (GAAP) and experience with financial reporting
- Prior experience running payroll for the US or Canada is required
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

What the job involves
- In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
- You will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support business decisions
- This role will be responsible for helping run payroll in the US and Canada
- Performing various payroll functions, including payroll processing for our US and Canadian entities, and timecard audits
- Prepare and record journal entries including revenue, accruals, fixed assets, and allocation
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity
- Assisting with the revenue recognition process, ensuring all revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP (ASC 606) for our multiple product lines
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Prepare financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Implement process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting accuracy

The company contributes to the reduction of paperwork in an office by turning an array of devices into time clocks that track hours and overtime, while also providing payroll support. This makes it easier for companies to remain in sync, running a more efficient operation as a result.
Given that Homebase's customer base of small businesses is not able to pay a lot for its product, scale is the key driver in the company's future success. With over 100,000 customers already, its significant venture capital backing will ensure that the company will be able to grow (notably it's investing in Canadian talent) to provide its services on a profitable scale.
