Principal DevOps Engineer, Splunk

• Expertise with terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code technologies
• Expertise crafting CI/CD pipelines and associated best practices for how to enable a modern cloud-native development team
• Expertise with cloud hosting services, ideally AWS
• Experience operating container-based technologies
• Significant experience operating and monitoring production cloud environments
• Deep knowledge of modern cloud architectures, and have applied that knowledge to new designs
• Proficiency with Unix system administration and shell scripting
• Proficiency with modern version control systems such as Git
• Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies quickly
• A collaborative attitude and enjoys working in a team environment
• The ability to be self-directed and to work alone when appropriate
• Experience and comfort with a fully remote environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• 10+ years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• A willingness to pitch in where needed to deliver an excellent quality of service to our customers

• The Splunk Attack Analyzer (SAA) team is looking for a principal devops engineer to own the design and implementation of our cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines and ops support systems.
• The SAA product is a cloud-native container-based microservice technology that helps customers automate the complex task of threat investigation.
• Containers and hosts are constantly being provisioned and terminated as our autoscaling system reacts to the minute-by-minute needs of our customers and the nuances of the current threat landscape.
• As we increase our scale and build out a global multi-region footprint, we are looking for someone to lead the design and implementation of a world-class devops practice
• Leading our infrastructure-as-code efforts (terraform) to fully describe our system and automate changes to our cloud environments
• Responsible for our CI/CD pipelines to provide secure, efficient and reliable paths for our developers to move their code through our development lifecycle
• Assist in the design and implementation of our multi-region cloud architecture
• Collaborate with the team to design scalable, efficient ways of running our code in cloud environments
• Monitor our production environments to optimize performance and detect and resolve issues before they impact customers
• Respond to alerts that may be triggered to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Partner with developers to produce code that is scalable, operator-friendly and observable
