Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Strong hands on Java experience with components such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate
- Strong experience with database technologies Oracle & Postgres
- Experience working with global teams and advanced written and verbal communications skills
- Experienced with working in distributed version control such as GIT Flow and with agile methodologies
- Experienced in delivering resilient commercial grade software globally
- Experience with distributed computing and event driven architectures
- Understands gaps in knowledge with a passion to learn
- Ideal candidate has experience with cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure
What the job involves
- The File Transfer team within the Platform Services group designs, builds, and operates the technology that powers Mastercard’s market‑facing and core platforms
- The team enables secure, high‑performance file transfers to and from customers across Mastercard’s global business
- We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Dublin‑based team, with a focus on building and operating our Global File Transfer platform
- This platform underpins secure, seamless data movement across Mastercard’s global infrastructure, including Mastercard’s next‑generation switch
- This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead engineering efforts within a globally distributed team, driven by a shared passion for delivering resilient, scalable solutions for our customers
- Design, implement, review, document, and test software components and subsystems to meet world‑class global engineering standards
- Translate technical specifications into detailed designs that are scalable, secure, and operable
- Ensure code is maintainable, well‑structured, and fully traceable through disciplined use of version control and peer review practices
- Partner with Product and Operations to scope and prioritize future work, and to triage and resolve operational issues efficiently
- Drive execution to ensure deliverables are completed on time, meet quality and reliability standards, and support operational excellence
- Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed
- Report any suspected information security violation or breach, and
- Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines
