- 8+ years of experience working on successful consumer products at fast-growing companies
- Understanding of diverse emerging technologies, including but not limited to AI/machine learning and data analytics
- Understanding of growth methodologies, including but not limited to A/B testing and experimentation, SEO, and tactics across the subscription lifecycle
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Very analytically rigorous but also a consumer-experience-first thinker
- An extremely creative thinker, always challenging and improving your work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

What the job involves
- Tonal is seeking a dynamic Staff Product Manager to join our team. In this highly senior role, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our product strategy to drive growth and technological advancement
- You will apply your seasoned and ranging product experience to make an impact across Tonal features including (but not limited to) the areas of growth, content, and intelligence. You will also help mentor junior members of the product team and be a leading voice on the overall product roadmap
- Product Vision and Strategy:
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for software solutions, aligning with the company's overarching goals
- Identify market trends and customer needs to define a roadmap that ensures our products remain at the forefront of connected fitness consumer product innovation
- Customer-Centric Approach:
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and pain points, translating feedback into actionable product improvements
- Work closely with UX/UI teams to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience
- Software Development Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional software development teams through the entire product development lifecycle
- Prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on customer feedback, business objectives, and data-driven insights
- Intelligence Integration:
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate intelligence layers seamlessly into our software offerings, leveraging the wealth of unique data at our disposal to make the entire Tonal platform more intelligent
- Drive the development of learning features to deliver unparalleled value to our customers
- Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence:
- Conduct market analysis to understand competitor offerings and industry trends
- Utilize insights to make informed decisions, differentiating our software solutions and ensuring a competitive edge
- Ethics and Compliance:
- Stay abreast of ethical considerations and ensure our products comply with industry standards and regulations
- Advocate for safe and responsible practices within the product development process
Our take
Tonal has created a proprietary digital weight system and combined this with coaching to offer a personalized and smart home gym. Its wall-mounted system uses electromagnetism to control the weights, replacing bulky and hard-to-store weightlifting equipment with a slim and sleek machine.
As well as selling the machines, Tonal sells subscriptions to personal training sessions and workout routines. The fitness landscape is shifting toward at-home equipment other similar equipment is supplied by Peloton and Mirror.
Tonal has seen impressive growth, investing equity funding into content initiatives, high-profile partnerships, scaling operations, and strong celebrity endorsements. It remains to be seen, however, if the current trend of home-workout equipment will stick around, let alone gain new momentum, but Tonal's cleverly designed equipment gives it an edge over competitors.
