Who you are
- 12+ years of experience leading business and product initiatives in high velocity tech companies with at least 5 years of management and leadership experience
- Experience building Machine Learning and Data platforms at scale
- Consistent record of successfully delivering meaningful value to the business and customers

What the job involves
- This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Product Officer
- The Enablement team at Etsy focuses on building out the platforms and services that our Product and Engineering teams rely on to deliver outstanding experiences to our buyers and sellers, and play a meaningful role in defining the developer experience
- As a data driven company, our Data, Machine Learning and Personalization platforms are fast-moving and a key point of leverage. At the same time, our mature web and app platforms, including our design system, are critical components relied on by hundreds of engineers daily and keeping them running efficiently is crucial
- As the VP of Product Management, Enablement, you will leverage your experience and expertise in Data, Machine Learning and Scaled Platforms to lead the development of the systems that underpin the entire Etsy experience
- Envision, communicate and gain alignment from other product leaders and cross functional partners on initiative-level product strategy
- Build, maintain and prioritize long-term roadmaps for product optimization, which align to Etsy's larger Product Org roadmap
- Define and clearly articulate guidelines, principles, expectations, goals and success metrics for product managers and their teams
- Cultivate a product culture that champions customer outcome product development, rapid testing, learning and iteration
- Ensure that all product decisions are underpinned by a deep understanding of the customer and validated through research, testing and measurement
- Advocate for continuous innovation, constant learning through testing, taking risks all while preserving the customer experience and protecting business interests
- Work closely and collaboratively with leaders across our other functions to realize the full scale and potential of the product
- Recruit incredible talent and retain them by being accountable for the individual inclusion, developmental and growth needs of each of your team members

Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. A hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers created significant discontent amongst sellers. Despite this, Etsy continues to connect artists and consumers, attracting shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
