Who you are

You have 6+ years of experience in management consulting / tech / design / investment banking / corporate strategy / business development / business operations or related experience; high-growth or early-stage startup experience strongly preferred
You have led projects across teams and demonstrated success in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
You have experience leading projects, working in a team, and motivating people at all levels across a variety of job responsibilities
You enjoy solving problems and can translate high-level goals into executional plans

What the job involves

As a Strategy & Operations Manager, you’ll scope, launch, scale, and operate the next generation of DoorDash products and services for restaurants to drive growth
You will report into the Restaurant Growth team, leading cross-functional collaboration between DoorDash’s operations, marketing, product, and analytics teams to maximize restaurant sales and potential on the DoorDash platform
You'll have the opportunity to help define new bets, build MVPs, set + operationalize GTM strategy, incubate 0-1 experiments, and improve operational performance. This role is your chance to grow into the GM of merchant growth
Build – Explore growth opportunities alongside our partners in Operations, Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams
Analyze – Shape and define our strategy based on quantitative and qualitative data
Operate – Figure out how to get from A to B–then actually make it happen
Experiment - Run tests and scale insights. Embrace the challenge of having multiple paths forward and no right answer
Grow – Help the business get 1% better every day

Our take

DoorDash was an early entrant into the last-mile restaurant delivery business, which is now crowded with the likes of Uber Eats, Postmates and GrubHub. They offer restaurants an end-to-end delivery platform, generating new business and access to a network of delivery drivers.

To differentiate itself in the market, DoorDash focused on areas with fewer competitors and found success in this untapped market. Other factors, such as the company's targeting of restaurants which many not typically offer a delivery service, also contribute to its profitability. The company made its stock market debut in 2020 with one of the biggest IPOs of the year.

However, in light of increasing discontent around DoorDash's commission structure from restaurants, competition remains fierce. The business recently responded by publishing a transparent fee structure, but the number of options open to restaurants means DoorDash must fight to keep its customers loyal. Despite this, by focusing on consumer retention, logistics and technology, the company is likely able to maintain its existing growth and revenue.
