Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in a fast-paced software development environment
- Empathy and a user-focused mindset
- Extensive experience with Typescript, HTML, CSS
- Deep expertise in React and related frameworks
- Practical knowledge of testing frameworks in React (e.g., Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library)
- Proven experience designing and optimizing highly interactive, real-time and data-intensive web applications
- Ability to architect and scale frontend systems for high-availability environments
- Familiarity with continuous delivery, version control systems (e.g., Git), and automated testing
- Strong autonomy, self-motivation, and time management skills
- A passion for mentoring and helping other engineers grow

- As a Principal Frontend Engineer, you are a technical leader, shaping and driving the user experience at Clerk Chat
- You take ownership of complex challenges and deliver highly interactive, scalable, and reliable applications
- With a deep understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimization, and scalability, you’ll lead efforts to improve the messaging interface, user onboarding, and AI-driven workflows
- You’re passionate about building seamless user experiences in a real-time data-heavy environment
- Lead the development and enhancement of our messaging interface, ensuring high scalability and reliability
- Drive the integration of AI workflows into the frontend experience
- Spearhead the design and implementation of user onboarding features
- Optimize the front-end architecture for performance in a highly interactive, data-intensive environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend engineers, AI specialists, and UI/UX designers
- Mentor and guide frontend engineers, ensuring high-quality code and design practices
- Make critical architectural decisions that impact the scalability and performance of our frontend systems
- Ensure the frontend codebase maintains high standards of testing, using frameworks within React
