Who you are
- 8+ years running social and community for a brand, with demonstrable results; audience growth, engagement, and a clear connection to business or mission impact, backed by metrics rather than anecdotes
- A strong writer first. This role lives or dies on voice, and True Anomaly's external standard is high. You write clearly, directly, and without hedging
- Real platform fluency; you understand what each channel rewards, you can read what's working, and you adapt fast without chasing every trend
- Comfortable being the whole function today and building it tomorrow. You want to own the strategy and do the work, and you find a blank slate energizing rather than daunting
- Comfortable working directly with C-suite on their social presence - you can earn an executive's trust, advise on voice and timing, and ghostwrite convincingly while helping them build a real audience
- Sound judgment and high discretion. Social sits in public, close to sensitive topics in defense and national security. you know what to post, what to hold, and when to escalate
- Genuine interest in defense, national security, or space is a meaningful signal. Category expertise is not required; intellectual seriousness about the mission is
- Fluency with AI and modern content tooling as part of how you work, not an afterthought
- The physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
What the job involves
- The Social Media Manager owns how True Anomaly shows up, day to day, on the platforms where the domain is being defined in real time. This is the person who lives on the feed: setting the social strategy, building the calendar, writing in the company's voice, and shipping content that earns True Anomaly a place in the conversation about space, defense, and national security
- Right now, that function does not exist. There is no channel strategy, no publishing rhythm, no owned community strategy. The brand strategy is set and the narrative is clear; what's missing is a person who turns that into a consistent, credible presence across platforms and grows an audience that matters. This is a founding hire for social at True Anomaly
- The ambition is real. Companies that have taken this domain seriously have built social audiences that shape recruiting, press, policy, and category perception. True Anomaly intends to do the same, on its own terms. That means an audience built on domain authority and operational credibility rather than provocation, and content that could only come from a company that understands the domain from the inside
- This starts as a hands-on individual contributor role. The person in this seat ships the work themselves. But it is a senior seat by design: as social proves out and the function grows, this person is building toward owning and leading it
- Own True Anomaly's social strategy and presence across platforms — LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging channels — each approached on its own terms rather than cross-posted
- Build and run the social content calendar: the publishing rhythm, sequencing, and cadence that turns an ambitious content agenda into a consistent presence
- Write and ship in True Anomaly's voice — clear, precise, confident without performing confidence — adapting the narrative to what each platform rewards without diluting it
- Run day-to-day publishing, community management, and engagement, including timely response in live moments — launches, demos, industry news, and press
- Grow True Anomaly's audience across platforms and, more importantly, deepen engagement with the audiences that matter: talent, defense and space press, policymakers, the defense-tech community, and investors
- Build the owned communities around True Anomaly's mission and content, and find repeatable ways to convert reach into genuine relevance in the domain
- Manage organic-first amplification, including boosting high-performing content to extend reach — lightweight paid support of organic work, not a standalone paid-media program
- Brief and partner with the VP of Brand and Creative, who owns the creative and content for social. You define what a moment needs and write the copy; the creative itself — the visual craft and produced content — comes from the Brand and Creative team. You own the platform strategy and voice, not the creative output
- Partner with Communications to keep social synchronized with the earned-media, executive, and policy narrative — amplifying press moments and thought leadership without freelancing the message
- Work with product, business development, and leadership to translate what's actually happening in the business into content people want to follow
- Turn milestones — launches, tests, hires, demos — into platform-native moments that build the brand and the mission narrative together
- Own executive social presence to start — partnering directly with the CEO to grow his audience and sharpen how he shows up on-platform, from strategy and voice to what to post and when
- Build a trusted working relationship that lets you advise in real time: drafting and shaping posts, helping decide when and how to respond, and being a steady partner in live moments
- Treat this as social strategy and audience-building, distinct from PR. As the function grows and a dedicated executive communications hire comes on — oriented toward press and policy — this role stays the social counterpart and partners closely with them
- Own the social side of measurement: define what good looks like, track audience growth and engagement quality, and tie social output to brand and business impact
- Report performance clearly and honestly in partnership with the function's broader analytics infrastructure rather than rebuilding it
Our take
True Anomaly is a space tech startup composed of former military operators and engineers. The Colorado-based company is focused on building spacecraft and software solutions designed to secure U.S. commercial and military interests in space. It has already developed a fully-integrated platform with seamless satellite, navigation, and data-capture technologies that provide security and training for the quickly evolving space market.
Founded in 2022, True Anomaly has already designed its first spacecraft, the Jackal Autonomous Orbital Vehicle, which can be used to train operators on the ground or as intelligence-gathering tools against adversarial spacecraft. Alongside this, the startup has built a 35,000-square-foot facility in Denver to manufacture the Jackals.
With impressive capital gained in 2023 and 2025, the company validated the Jackal's technical and operational capabilities and made the necessary investments to scale production. And with its most recent capital injection, the company is ready to fund space missions and further scale its operations.
