Role
Who you are
- At least 4 years of experience in full-stack software development adopting best practices
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in React ecosystem and modern CSS frameworks
- Deep expertise with backend building RESTful APIs and scalable containerized applications through kubernetes or related frameworks
- Expertise with one or more cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with designing data models for custom complex applications
- Hands-on experience integrating Gen AI via API and a familiarity with employing RAG in custom applications
- Knowledge of visualization technologies such as D3.js, Plotly, Grafana, Superset, or related technologies
- Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Clear communication skills that are essential for working across diverse stakeholders
Desirable
- Solid foundation in building tools for hardware, IoT, especially processing and analyzing time-series data
- Experience building with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to connect data sources to LLMs
- Previous experience with coaching and managing a small engineering team
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience in aerospace or a related field, particularly with flight test data analysis and aircraft health monitoring
What the job involves
- Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility
- We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise
- We are looking for a versatile Full Stack Software Engineer to own the design, development, and maintenance of Archer’s internal tooling ecosystem
- In this role, you will act as a force multiplier for the entire organization—from Hardware Engineers analyzing flight data to Talent Acquisition teams scaling our workforce
- You will not just be writing code; you will be solving complex workflow problems
- You will be responsible for deploying Generative AI solutions ,building data-intensive platforms, and automating critical business operations
- You'll develop scalable full-stack web applications to support engineering, operations, and other stakeholders
- Identify, develop, and maintain custom tooling to enable various automated workflows supporting a wide variety of stakeholders
- Collaborate with the Data team to build a custom web app to conduct complex data reviews following flight tests. Partner with key engineering stakeholders to iterate on new features and drive adoption
- Build and maintain the full-stack of internal AI assistants that includes building MCP servers to safely connect our LLMs to internal data
- Manage the CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure required to host internal tools securely
- Work directly with internal customers to gather requirements, iterate on UI/UX, and drive adoption of new tools
- Mentor a team of engineers working on deploying custom internal tools
Our take
With traffic, noise, and emissions becoming major challenges for urban life, Archer is building electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts, led by its flagship model, Midnight, offering a cleaner, quieter alternative to traditional short-haul travel. The idea is simple: replace long car rides with quick, sustainable fluights that lift off vertically, fly over the gridlock, and help reduce urban pollution. It's a bold shift in transportation, but one that could meaningfully change how we navigate cities in the years ahead.
Midnight is designed to make these short flights practical, safe, and efficient. Its electric powertrain significantly reduce noise and emissions compared to helicopters (one of the biggest barriers to adopting urban air mobility at scale). However, eVTOLs face hurdles before becoming an everyday reality, including regulatory approvals, infrastructure build-out, and the operational testing needed to prove long-term safety and reliability. Archer is addressing these challenges with major manufacturing investment, deep engineering partnerships, and ongoing flight testing in the US and abroad.
Even with these barriers, Archer has been moving from success to success. The company is set to be the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. And its recent acquisition of Hawthorne Airport in LA will serve as both a launch site and an innovation hub for next-generation, AI-powered aviation operations. On the commercial side, Archer's partnerships with United Airlines and its growing international presence signal strong industry confidence. COmbines with newly expanded funding and successful long-range flight tests, Archer sure is a promising player in eVTOl aviation.
