What the job involves
- We’re looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the systems that power Redpanda’s core platform in Cloud, and influence the technical culture behind them. Redpanda Cloud is a platform for data streaming and much more, used by enterprises around the world, and is also the foundation of our Agentic Data Plane product
- In this role, you will design and develop our cloud services, across Bring Your Own Cloud, multitenant, Redpanda Connect, and Redpanda SQL offerings. You will contribute to system architecture, develop new features, and operate Redpanda Cloud, helping us meet our 99.99% SLA. You will collaborate closely with Cloud, Core, AI, and Platform engineering, as well as pre- and post-sales teams, to build robust, scalable systems with a strong emphasis on stability, performance, and high reliability
- Design, build and operate Redpanda Cloud services across AWS, GCP, and Azure, including control plane and data plane components
- Own features end-to-end, converting ambiguous product requirements into clear technical designs and executable plans
- Lead the technical direction of projects, and contribute to architecture discussions that span Cloud and adjacent teams
- Anticipate technical risks and proactively mitigate them to ensure timely, high quality delivery
- Set and uphold high standards for reliability, scalability, performance, and security
- Build tooling and services for automated provisioning, deployment, upgrades and self-healing
- Participate in the first-line on-call rotation, maintaining our 99.99% SLA, reducing escalations and improving operational health
- Make resilience and observability integral to the systems you own, enabling us to run enterprise-grade cloud services, and provide a firm foundation for our Agentic Data Plane
Our take
When dealing with real-time data streaming workloads, the simpler the infrastructure the better. Redpanda was developed as an alternative to the complex industry standard, Apache Kafka (which needed to be used in tandem with ZooKeeper). Redpanda’s Kafka-compatible platform increases businesses’ operational efficiency by allowing them to switch to a single platform.
With its platform running on hundreds of thousands of machines, Redpanda supports users to run the software that they’ve already invested in while addressing and eliminating past pain points. Building on its success with data streaming, the company is now pioneering the "Agentic Data Plane", a new AI infrastructure feature that enables enterprises to connect AI agents with their data and systems.
With this new direction, Redpanda ensures it remains a key player in the industry - as it supports the new endeavours of its established customer base. Having raised strong funding in the past, the company has continued to expand marketing and R&D efforts to increase its reach and support its growth plans moving forward.
