Role
Who you are
- A minimum of 7+ years’ experience leading high performing engineering teams
- A minimum of 10+ years' experience of relevant technical front-end and back-end development
- Proven experience and expert understanding in C# and Unity
- Experience with object-game/mobile languages, and server-side programming environments
- Experience with project management and agile workflows
- Experience trying out new tools, failing fast, and navigating new developments
- Experience working directly with product teams and product owners
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues with ease and confidence
- Passion for developing people, products, and technical processes!
- Nice to Have: Experience shipping F2P Games is desired but not essential
- You enjoy games, particularly mobile games. You are on top of the latest games, trends and what’s happening in live events
- Comfortable in an environment where priorities and plans change rapidly, but with intention
- Solution-oriented, self-motivated, and diligent

What the job involves
- Lead the technical direction for our business, ensuring that all team members are aligned and capable of moving forward towards success!
- Provide technical direction for multiple projects such as; setting up architecture and design, monitoring progress, resourcing, utilization etc
- Identify technical stacks required and mitigation risks early on in development and provide solutions for possible cases that may arise
- Collaborate with studio Directors to ensure roadmaps are in alignment with engineering requirements
- Develop our people, ensure that technical team members are aligned on the technical path forward and are afforded professional development
- Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams. Ensure that technical concepts translate into strategic plans for our business goals
Our take
East Side Games is a developer and publisher of free-to-play mobile games and has been in the market for over a decade now. In that time, the explosion of mobile users and design developments has meant the industry changed fast. East Side Games, however, has managed to keep up - and the studio has held its own against giants like Supercell and Playrix.
The free-to-play gaming market took a hit when Apple changed their use of IDFA, making targeted advertising and therefore user acquisition much harder. East Side Game’s strategy, however, is savvy. The team have focused on using buzzy topics (‘stonks’) or leveraging the hugely popular TV shows (The Office, Drag Race, Doctor Who) to tap into existing bases of engaged and content-hungry users. It’s seen them win some hard-to-chase consumer choice awards, too.
This speaks to both the quality of the games and the ability of East Side Games to keep abreast of consumer preferences. With the nearly $74B free-to-play mobile games market looking set only to grow, this studio is in command of a sound strategy and good prospects.
