Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of strong software engineering experience building backend systems and APIs in production
- Experience in Go
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Service mesh (Istio), Terraform (or similar IaC tools) and CI/CD systems
- Comfort with workflow orchestration, event-driven architectures and operational complexity
- Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana or similar)
- Experience building shared platform capabilities used by multiple teams or products
- A strong quality mindset across CI/CD, telemetry and production ownership
What the job involves
- The ezCater platform team focuses on building shared platform capabilities for our infrastructure so that our engineers can ship quality software reliably, safely and quickly. This role is centered on building backend services, APIs, infrastructure components and reliable distributed systems
- You’ll actively partner cross-functionally with product engineering teams to ensure that we are building the right experiences that will in turn drive customer growth and adoption
- Build internal developer platforms, shared services, APIs and libraries that support integrations and core platform capabilities
- Design reliable backend systems for cross-domain business flows and operationally critical use cases
- Partner with product, security and engineering peers to turn ambiguous problems into well-scoped, high quality deliverables
- Own quality through testing, observability, safe rollout practices and production issue investigation
- Have a self-service mindset to improve developer velocity and reduce toil
Our take
ezCater is an online marketplace app that provides catering options for businesses, working with food providers who enter their menus onto the app for customers to browse. ezCater sends each store its orders and handles customer service while the food providers fulfil the orders.
ezCater profits by charging a small commission on all orders that restaurants fulfil. The company counts JLL, RingCentral and the San Francisco 49ers among its customers. It previously fuelled expansion through acquisitions such as online catering platform GoCater in 2018 and MonkeySoft Solutions in 2019.
ezCater has enjoyed strong growth, in part by focusing on meal deliveries to a growing hybrid workforce as an employee benefit. It has been eyeing an IPO for some time, though these plans are yet to come to fruition. In the meantime, it has continued to develop its technology and unveiled a new supplier diversity program to uplift small businesses owned by underrepresented groups.
