Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management or tech lead roles
- Proven success leading full-stack or backend-focused teams in a high-scale environment
- Experience working on member-facing or platform-level healthcare tools (e.g., benefits, claims, enrollment)
- Strong systems design and architecture skills
- Ability to lead with empathy, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and prioritize engineering investment effectively

What the job involves
- Reporting to the Director Engineering, we’re looking for a growth-minded Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team, scale our technology, and shape how we grow engagement across all channels
- Lead a cross-functional team responsible for the end-to-end member journey around insurance coverage, cost visibility, and claims understanding
- Partner with product and design to shape the vision and roadmap for coverage enrollment and claims advocacy tools
- Drive technical excellence across backend services and frontend components
- Ensure services are scalable, resilient, and cost-effective
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineers
- Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
- Prompt and regular attendance at assigned work location
- Ability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment
- No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., lifting a computer / laptop) may be required
- Ability to interact with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner
