Who you are

5+ years of software development experience with an emphasis on Data Engineering
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
Experience with SQL and database technologies such as Redshift and Postgres
Experience with big data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Flink
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and their data services (e.g. S3, Redshift, Dataflow, Glue)
Experience managing infrastructure, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, utilizing Terraform Cloud
A bias for action, where no task is too small

Desirable

Experience with real-time streaming frameworks like Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or Apache Storm
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Experience working in high-growth, venture-backed startup(s)

What the job involves

As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining the platform that powers our products.
By collaborating with backend engineers, data analysts, and other engineers, you’ll build new features, modules, and extensions for our systems. We’re seeking a collaborative problem solver who thrives in ambiguity and can take on new challenges with optimism
Craft high-quality code for scale, availability, and performance
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data in real-time or batch mode
Drive engineering projects from end to end with a high level of ownership
Ensure the quality of our product through code reviews, testing, and bug fixing

Our take

With global payment revenue expected to reach $14.79T by 2027, the importance of effective payment infrastructure has never been greater. However, as the technology becomes more essential, the costs and complexities associated with it continue to rise. A recent survey found that merchants' satisfaction with their payment processors has significantly declined, particularly when faced with major technical challenges.

Pagos addresses this gap by offering a platform that simplifies the complexities of payment systems, making it easier for businesses to navigate and optimise their payment environments. In early 2023, Pagos successfully closed an oversubscribed Series A funding round. The company is using this to expand its engineering team and continue refining its product suite, which currently includes Parrot, Peacock, Canary, Toucan, and Loon.
