Role
Who you are
- You are an experienced, versatile software developer who feels energized working in an ambitious startup environment
- You enjoy collaboration and are eager to broaden your skills in all directions
- You have 3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in an agile team
- You are a natural collaborator who enjoys pair programming and working with a product manager
- You have experience building batch data processing jobs
- You have experience building backend APIs
- You have strong computer science fundamentals and know development best practices (e.g. agile, “clean” code, test-driven development, CI/CD, etc…)
- You are an excellent technical communicator

- Your language of choice is Python
- You have worked with distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark
- You have had some exposure to front-end development and React
What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer on the Data Products team, you will grow Applecart’s data-mining capabilities to enable ever more powerful connections inside decision-maker networks
- To achieve this goal, you will contribute ETL pipelines, APIs and algorithms within a service-oriented software architecture
- You will join a hybrid-remote team of skilled and collaborative software engineers dedicated to the continuous delivery of business value
Our take
Applecart uses publicly available data, both online and offline, to create a map of real-world interpersonal relationships. Allowing clients to run more effective advertising and marketing campaigns by leveraging social influence, or word of mouth, which Applecart believes is the most powerful motivator.
Initially focused on political campaigns, Applecart worked to increase voter engagement and turnout. However, in recent years, it has expanded into commercial work, partnering with organisations such as Boeing and nonprofits like The Business Roundtable.
A key backer of Applecart is Ari Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor, a global entertainment and media agency that owns the UFC. While it's unclear if the UFC is currently a client, Emanuel's involvement signals the high-profile clients Applecart is now attracting. Further success has come in the form of Blackstone's impressive $100 million investment in Applecart, setting up 2026 to be a year of further growth for the company.
