Role
Who you are
- BA/BS in Economics, Math, Finance, Engineering, CS, or other quantitative field
- 6+ years of work experience, preferably in investment banking, PE / VC, management consulting, or FP&A / Strategic Finance at a high-growth technology company
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills with ability to unearth insights and turn them into recommendations and action plans
- Highly proficient in Excel / Sheets with exceptional modeling skills and attention to detail
- Organized and structured, with a proven ability to run projects and processes from end-to-end
- Familiarity with go-to-market finance concepts, preferably at a B2B SaaS company
- Ability to effectively build and maintain cross-functional relationships, manage multiple competing priorities, and drive projects to completion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to synthesize findings and concisely articulate them to an array of audiences
- Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly-changing environment
- Understanding of basic accounting principles (e.g., US GAAP) and financial statements
What the job involves
- Retool is growing rapidly and entering a new stage of maturity. To support this growth and help Retool scale to the next level, we are looking for a Strategic Finance Manager focused on Sales and Customer Success who can partner with our leaders in GTM and Rev Ops to help us thoughtfully allocate our resources and drive execution against the company’s short- and long-term financial ambitions
- Partner deeply with Sales and TCX (Technical Customer Experience) leaders to support strategic decision-making and initiative prioritization
- Build and improve GTM financial models we use to run the business, including Bookings, Sales Capacity, Pipeline, and Expansion models
- Drive annual planning and forecasting processes for top-line and GTM investments in Sales and TCX
- Develop and improve metrics to measure Sales and TCX performance
- Deliver timely reporting packages with insights into growth levers and GTM performance
- Partner cross-functionally to improve processes and systems supporting our path toward IPO-readiness
- Drive projects to improve predictability of top-line results, identify efficiency gains, and chart the path for future growth

Retool allows developers to build internal applications quickly using a complete set of ready-made building blocks. These internal applications can be used to display company data from a range of sources, including Redis, Salesforce, Google Cloud, and Slack.
For a monthly fee, the platform enables companies to save time that they would have otherwise spent on developing their own internal applications. Retool brands itself as 'low-code,' meaning that it is easy to use and customize. There is a huge demand for systems that allow teams to analyze the data they already have. Retool already counts brands such as Amazon, Philips, Peloton, NBC, and Mercedes-Benz as customers.
Retool was founded in 2017, and the company is now valued at over $1 billion. Founded by Oxford graduate David Hsu, the management team includes ex-Stripe and ex-Airbnb employees with plenty of experience in taking a company from a start-up to a global brand. Retool was awarded $45 million in Series C in 2022, which it is using to expand its workforce, tweak its platform, and develop new products.
