Who you are

Highly proficient in Javascript, Typescript
Experience owning and maintaining complex application logic
Experience with React.js, HTML5 and CSS3
Experience with UI testing frameworks and test driven development
Experience using RESTful APIs and integrating with backend services
Enthusiasm for designing customer facing interfaces
A background in computer science or relevant experience

Desirable

Experience with Node.js
Experience with Rust
Experience with core web APIs (e.g. web workers, service workers, HTMLMediaElement, web codecs, web sockets etc.)
Experience working with video and audio encoders and decoders
Familiarity with WASM

What the job involves

Pimloc is recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer with a frontend focus to build its React.js based video and audio editing software
You will perform a critical role in bringing Secure Redact's powerful AI capabilities into the hands of users
The role will work predominately in Javascript to develop cutting edge AI-driven video and audio editing tools
You will be working with RESTful APIs and a microservice backend
You will own the design and implementation of new features and upgrade existing UI flows, design and APIs
You will have exposure and input to system design, and will advocate for all issues related to the application

The surveillance world is at a critical juncture. Larger than ever volumes of video and image data are being handled by organisations in both the public and private sectors, with public security the end goal, but they can’t use much of it, due in part to public concerns as well as the justified tightening of data protection laws.

Pimloc is out to help organisations like these increase and maintain security while still protecting human rights. The company offers technology that automatically redacts and anonymises key personal information in video and images by, for example, blurring faces and car number plates.

Though the tech that’s gone into it is impressively complex, Pimloc’s is a refreshingly simple solution. Given the crossroads we’re at with personal data and surveillance, Pimloc is operating in a potentially huge market, with its tech ripe for use by law enforcement and other public bodies, private security companies, entertainment venues, and further down the line, smart cities.
