Role
Who you are
- You’re an expert in the Android ecosystem and love building world-class mobile app experiences for consumers
- You identify large-scale problems in production, propose solutions, and work across teams to see them to fruition
- You make thoughtful and respectful contributions to code reviews and design discussions
- You are excited to dive into code you’ve never seen before, figure out what it does, make it better, and document it
- You define user requirements, discuss trade-offs, and plan timelines
- You commit to making your entire team stronger by mentoring junior developers and suggesting process improvements
- You test your code to ensure correctness and minimize regressions
- You have a respectful, positive, and constructive attitude
- You have 8 or more years of experience building large-scale Android apps in the Google Play store
- You have 8 or more years of experience in Java and/or Kotlin
- You’ve worked on a React Native application previously
- You know how to build apps with a strong focus on UI, design, and usability
- You’re familiar with performance analysis and optimization tools to ensure the best experience for our drivers
- You know how to apply computer science algorithms and data structures
- You communicate effectively with cross-functional groups
What the job involves
- Reports To: Director of Driver Services
- Millions of drivers will be switching to electric vehicles over the coming years. We need your help to make their charging experience easy!
- You will design and build new features for the ChargePoint mobile app that helps drivers find a place to charge on Android, Wear OS, Android Auto, and Android Automotive OS
- Your work will help direct drivers to the best place to charge and provide special benefits to our drivers across public and home charging through technologies like NFC, in-vehicle dash integrations, and more
- You will work with a collaborative, cross-functional team that takes ideas from the drawing board to full-scale implementation
- Your outstanding work will speed up the transition to electrified transportation worldwide!
Our take
Electric vehicles are predicted to account for nearly 30% of new vehicle sales by 2025, which means the need for EV charging infrastructure is on the rise. ChargePoint supplies just such infrastructure, with hardware, software and mobile solutions for "every charging need".
Boasting the world’s largest EV charging network, the company also provides complimentary services for drivers, businesses and fleets. These include, for example, a mobile app for finding and paying for charging, and project management tools for making the switch to EVs.
Having already established a strong presence in the lucrative and expanding EV charging market, ChargePoint is well-poised to assist in the electric mobility revolution. It serves a range of clients across North America and Europe, including Wells Fargo whom it partnered with to create financing solutions for EV infrastructure. 2023 saw funds secured that will support its goal of reaching profitability in the near future.
