Role
Who you are
- Strong experience in at least one programming language (e.g. C++, Java, or Python) - we use Golang
- Experience building and maintaining APIs that handle significant data volumes with real-time processing requirements
- Proven track record of implementing complex state management systems
- Good understanding of financial concepts, with exposure to risk management and portfolio systems a plus
- Excellent skills in writing comprehensive unit and integration tests
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical designs
- You're an engineer who thrives on building high-performance systems and can bridge the gap between complex requirements and technical solutions
- You enjoy working with real-time systems and have experience handling time-critical processing requirements
- You take ownership of complex technical challenges and enjoy seeing your solutions directly impact trading operations

What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer in our Portfolio Management Systems team, you'll help build Talos' new flagship product, reimagining how risk management systems work in the digital assets space
- You'll develop critical components of our institutional-grade trading infrastructure, focusing on real-time risk management and portfolio analytics for cryptocurrency markets
- Working on systems that process millions of records with real-time computation, you'll enable instant decision-making for trading operations and risk assessment in this emerging asset class
- Design and implement real-time risk management systems that power trading decisions, including position monitoring and limit enforcement
- Develop and maintain APIs that provide seamless access to risk metrics and portfolio data while ensuring optimal performance for real-time processing
- Create and enhance settlement orchestration systems managing multi-cryptocurrency workflows
- Build and integrate components across our Investment Book of Records (IBOR) system, ensuring accurate position tracking and risk assessment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical designs and implement them with comprehensive testing
- Design and maintain integrations with our Order Execution Management System (OMS) for position and rate limit enforcement

So far, the increasing institutional interest in the value of crypto-assets has been stymied by a lack of scaled, efficient, and secure infrastructure that these institutions could use for trade. Talos addresses the problem of digital asset trading between institutions, helping them to securely sidestep these obstacles into a fresh market with potentially huge returns.
The company provides a range of end-to-end, highly configurable tools to populate and facilitate the institutional crypto-asset market from just one platform. Talos' approach is helping to lower the bar for wide-ranging adoption of cryptocurrency, supporting the full lifespan of digital assets trading. That said, because they’re developing the market of an entirely new asset-class, progress is accelerated and competition may have a chance to overtake.
Promising for Talos was the interest of prominent investors like PayPal and Fidelity during their Series A funding round, with the funds being used to create an institutional-grade service to help them both shape and spearhead this developing market. More recently, the company has made a number of significant partnerships, and also acquired D3X Systems, the integration of which will allow its clients to design, validate, implement and manage highly customized portfolios.
