Who you are

We are looking for a Staff Full Stack Engineer who will bring strong technical competency and distributed systems experience, enjoys solving complex problems with a results driven mindset, and fosters a strong sense of ownership and operational excellence
Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify root causes and implement effective mitigations and resolutions
Experience with a Monolith to Services architectural rebuild
Experience with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) (microservices)
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and propose new solutions or improvements that align with organizational goals
Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours
Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

What the job involves

You will be using technologies like Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Node, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and more
You will report to one of the Engineering Managers in our Scheduling group and will be at the forefront of building a best-in-class contact management and scheduling experience that empowers users to foster stronger connections and host exceptional meetings with ease and efficiency
Architectural Design: Have strong opinions on shaping our technical strategy and North Star Architecture as well as guiding the design and implementation of services and components within your area
Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship, guidance, and decision making to enable engineering teams to deliver the right solutions and outcomes
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, engineering, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Planning & Execution: Acting as a hands-on, key contributor on critical “Big Rock” initiatives, delivering high output with high quality; participating in planning to define scope, milestones, and work breakdown in a manner that promotes incremental delivery and high impact
Vision & Strategy: Developing and articulating the vision for a service and its capabilities, defining its strategic value, and overseeing its evolution to meet future demands and enhance our overall platform

Our take

Calendly is a cloud-based scheduling service that is straightforward to use. It allows around 10 million customers per month to connect and make appointments based on their available times without having to send emails back and forth.

The platform offers four different plans - allowing individuals, small companies, and large enterprises alike to make use of these services. Calendly's growth to date been based mostly around a very organic strategy. Its invites become links to Calendly itself, so people who like it can, and do, start to use it.

There are a handful of competing products on the market, including offerings from Doodle and Microsoft, but Calendly's customer-friendly design has won it attention and allowed it to carve itself a space in the field. Impressive funding has contributed to the company's expansion, allowing it to capitalize on the increasing popularity of home and hybrid working.
