Who you are

Experience building and maintaining scalable, performant, and secure applications
The ability to ensure quality (through testing or other measures) of the product and code shipped, efficiently, effectively and with a high cadence
Strong experience with Python and Django

What the job involves

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Engineering team, where you will design and develop high impact features and implement improvements key in our company strategy growth
As part of a small experienced team, you will have the opportunity to share your experience through mentoring and supporting others, identifying challenges, highlighting risks and suggesting improvements
This is a highly collaborative environment where you can expect to work closely with product, design and engineering teams, to develop new features, integral in our mission to grow into the Primary Care Market
You'll gain unparalleled exposure working in a cross-functional team with product and design as well as other engineers
We champion the personal development of our people and to that end everyone of our engineers has 2 hours on a weekly basis blocked out in their diaries where they can pursue their own independent learning
Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers and other Engineers to design and develop high impact features and improvements to our product
Regularly ship iterative solutions with minimal guidance and support from other team members
Develop features and improvements in a secure, scalable, well-tested, and performant way
Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices. You will maintain and advocate for these standards through code review
You’ll help identify areas of improvements in the codebase and help contribute to making it better
You’ll learn, collaborate with, and teach other Engineers. We believe everyone can contribute something new to the team regardless of how long they’ve been in the industry

The NHS is facing huge financial pressures. An area that's been targeted in recent years is the billions the NHS spends on sourcing temporary doctors, known as locums, largely via agencies which take large fees.

Lantum's business model has changed since launch. It was originally a marketplace which helped healthcare providers connect with vetted temporary staff when they found gaps in their shifts. It has since become a wider platform for NHS workforce management.

Their software helps healthcare organisations fill the maximum number of shifts, by enabling them to manage their own network of clinicians and introducing them to new clinicians in the area. In 2021 they supported over 3,000 healthcare organisations, saving the NHS over £30 million.

Having already introduced the service for smaller clinics, they now aim to introduce it to hospitals as well as expanding the service to all healthcare professionals – including nurses and receptionists.
