What the job involves
- At Cedar, we’re on a mission to simplify the patient billing experience and improve the financial journey in healthcare
- As part of this vision, we’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Communications & Login squad
- This team is responsible for engaging with patients across various communication channels and ensuring a seamless, intuitive experience for viewing and managing healthcare finances
- We aim to balance the success of our individual clients with the ability to scale our platform and improve the experience for all patients
- Lead impactful projects: Own the end-to-end development of features and technical investments that drive significant value for our users
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner closely with product, design, and data science teams to deliver innovative solutions
- Drive technical clarity: Bring structure to ambiguous projects, ensuring we build scalable systems that stand the test of time
- Mentor and inspire: Guide engineers at all levels through technical challenges, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of learning and growth
- Advocate for improvements: Identify opportunities to enhance our systems and champion changes that benefit both our clients and patients
Our take
Over $1 billion is said to be lost annually by physicians as a result of inefficient and disjointed healthcare billing practices. The subsequently low patient satisfaction rates lead to poorer care, and real losses for providers who see patients switching away from their plans.
Cedar looks to remedy these issues with a selection of consumer-facing services which streamline billing, insurance and healthcare processes. Healthcare billing concerns a huge percentage of US adults, so optimizing patient satisfaction is of increasing concern - a great opportunity for the company.
After acquiring competing patient finance streamlining service OODA Health in 2021, Cedar netted substantial funds and launched its Payer Intelligence Layer. This allows it to integrate data from insurers and providers to create a single source of information. The company was also endorsed by the Montana Hospital Association's shared services division, to be listed as its only preferred patient financial engagement technology.
