Our take
The corporate transition to clean energy is gathering serious momentum, with about a third of the world’s largest publicly traded companies already committing to net zero. Such a movement can only be encouraged, but it’s also creating its fair share of obstacles.
There’s mounting pressure on companies to accurately report on their emissions, which many struggle to do transparently simply because they don’t fully understand their energy consumption. On top of this, while many companies think they’re buying 100% renewable energy, they often aren’t. According to clean energy startup FlexiDAO, this is because daily and even hourly dips in supply lead to fossil fuels filling the gap.
To enable companies to better track their energy consumption, FlexiDAO’s SaaS leverages blockchain technology to certify and trace electricity throughout the whole supply chain, every single hour. By providing a level of insight few other clean tech companies can, FlexiDAO has managed to attract some high profile users including Vodafone, Microsoft, and Google. Funds raised in 2022 were cited to support the expansion of both its service offering and its international presence.

Grzegorz Bytniewski
(CTO)Previously a Research Engineer at Tohoku University, Japan, where they worked in Nuclear Fusion. Before co-founding FlexiDAO, they spent just under two years leading an IoT and Blockchain based project focused on energy efficiency for NTT DATA company everis.
