Who you are

A background in automating application deployment and configuration management
Automation / Configuration management tools experience, i.e., RedHat, Puppet, Chef, Ansible
Knowledge of IAC technologies such as Cloudformation or Terraform
Strong Linux Sysadmin skills
Containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker & Kubernetes)
Good knowledge of internet communication concepts and protocols - TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP
Experience of deploying Continuous Integration solutions
An awareness of security considerations in web application deployment
Monitoring / Logging aka ELK, Prometheus / Grafana etc
Strong AWS knowledge - EC2, EKS, RDS, Aurora, networking, cost management
Strong problem-solving skills
Self-motivated - working to brief with limited supervision
Creative in applying new technology to build innovative solutions
Knowledge / Experience of modern programming languages, understanding at least one of: Bash script, Python, Ruby, Perl, C, C++, Java, PowerShell
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills to resolve highly complex software design issues and create new software for one or more products
Good communication skills to interact with team members and senior stakeholders
Must have been using Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins & AWS actively in the last 2 years

What the job involves

As a Cloud DevOps Engineer you’ll be responsible for providing both technical support and leadership abilities in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs
A cloud DevOps engineer is Responsible for the development and operational aspects of a company's cloud computing infrastructure. They work with developers to ensure that applications are deployed and operated in a cloud environment
Conducts investigations and tests of complex software systems to enhance performance or to investigate and resolve matters of significance
Reviews completion and implementation of technical products to ensure success and timeliness
Evaluates vendor capabilities on projects to provide required products or services
Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel
Provides technical consultation to other organizations; interacts with senior customer personnel and internal senior management
Provides the customer base with first level support

Formed in 2017 as part of a merger with Computer Sciences Corporation, DXC has swiftly developed into a global leader in the digital transformation space, providing IT services to numerous enterprise businesses, including over half of FTSE 500-listed companies. After a rash of large acquisitions shortly after its founding (Tribidge, Molina Medicaid Solutions and Luxoft to name just a few), DXC then went through a period of restructuring, reducing its headcount in some of its markets to allow it to compete with rivals in the IT consulting space such as Deloitte. This has paid off as DXC has returned to profitability after several years of operating at a loss while it consolidated.

DXC had a major PR win in 2022, partnering with Manchester United to be its sleeve sponsor and to help drive the club’s digital transformation. DXC is planning to move forward with a back-to-basics focus on its cybersecurity offering and is seeing major growth in this sector. It is also focusing development on its DXC Platform X technology, having formed a partnership with Dynatrace in 2022 to improve its speed and efficiency.
