- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Understanding and enthusiasm for modern AI/ML tools, models, and their application to software development
- Experience with software development in C, C++, Python, and familiarity with AI frameworks and compiler toolchains
- Strong background in high-performance computing, system software, and parallel programming
- Experience with benchmarking and performance analysis of AI models and compute workloads
- Passion for AI-assisted development and eagerness to drive internal adoption of emerging tools
- Familiarity with legal and compliance aspects of AI-generated code is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to evangelize AI tools and workflows within a technical organization
What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Sr.Software Engineer, AI Development Tools to explore, evaluate, implement, and use cutting-edge AI-powered software development tools and methodologies
- In this role, you will be responsible for assessing the latest advancements in AI-driven software tools, integrating them into Tenstorrent’s workflow, applying them to critical projects, and advocating for their use internally
- You will also collaborate with our legal and marketing teams to ensure we remain at the forefront of AI-assisted development while adhering to industry bestpractices
- Continuously track and evaluate the latest advancements in AI-driven development tools, assessing their applicability to Tenstorrent’s AI hardware and software stack
- Develop concrete workflows, tools, and examples demonstrating the use of AI agents to generate high-performance code, including Metal & Forge code, operations, kernels, models, system engineering scripts, and demos
- Actively use AI-assisted development tools in Tenstorrent software projects to contribute features, tests, bug fixes, and documentation, ensuring their effectiveness and improving Tenstorrent’s software infrastructure
- Design and implement benchmarks to test these tools on tasks relevant to Tenstorrent, providing data-driven recommendations for their adoption
- Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development practices within the company by providing support, documentation, and training for engineers
- Work with the legal team to navigate the evolving landscape of AI-generated code, providing guidance on best practices and risk mitigation
- Partner with marketing and recruiting teams to promote Tenstorrent’s leading-edge AI- assisted development workflows, attracting top talent and enhancing our industry presence
Our take
Advances in artificial intelligence apps, combined with a global chip shortage, are strong tailwinds for chip processor Tenstorrent. The semi-conducter developer is designing specialized chips for running artificial intelligence applications, building chips for what it calls "software 2.0".
The company’s unique approach is to build for this future software, which it believes will be written at a higher level. Combining this with conditional computing, Tenstorrent supports a scalable distributed network approach that is analogous to a human brain.
While the market for specialised AI hardware is destined to be gigantic, the company has to compete with a plethora of hopeful startups (as well as major tech companies like NVIDIA and Qualcomm). That said, Tenstorrent boasts an excellent trajectory so far, with its latest moves including unveiling its high-end Wormhole AI processors, and a partnership with LG which will see the development of chips for "Affectionate Intelligence".
