Role
Who you are
- University degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, or a similar field
- Significant experience in data engineering
- Hands-on experience designing and operating data pipelines in AWS with services like S3, Athena, DMS and Glue
- Excellent SQL skills, including advanced concepts such as window functions, experience with dbt is a plus
- Advanced knowledge about cloud networking & security (AWS IAM, VPC, Security Groups, ...)
- Proficient and experienced with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
- Strong programming skills in Python, ideally including Airflow and data processing frameworks such as PySpark
- Experience with data streaming technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, Flink and Spark Streaming is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Fluent English communication and presentation skills
What the job involves
- Develop our scalable, cloud-based data platform for analytics and business intelligence, leveraging state-of-the-art data technologies
- Shape an AWS-based data processing, ingesting data from our internal backend services as well as from third parties
- Extend our lakehouse empowering various teams in decision-making, driving innovation, performance optimization, and strategic objectives
- Prepare and clean structured and unstructured data and develop high-quality data models for advanced analytics, and AI use cases
- Design and implement testing and monitoring components to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of data pipelines
- Collaborate closely with highly ambitious and skilled people in our growing data teams, as well as product & engineering colleagues to release smart features for our products
- Support the creation of interactive dashboards and reporting solutions for stakeholders, such as management, marketing, sales and quantitative research
- Stay up to date with the latest industry developments in data engineering and cloud architecture and share your expertise best practices within the company
Our take
Interest around investing in digital assets is increasing steadily due to innovations in fintech smartphone applications and the popularity of blockchain finance such as cryptocurrency. While stocks and cryptocurrency have a lot to do with this increase in popularity, it has also led to new investors learning about ETFs and index funds, meaning more people are looking for easier ways to invest.
Scalable Capital provides a free smartphone application for the investing and trading of stocks, cryptocurrencies, commission-free ETFs, and index funds, with subscription fees providing commission-free stock trading. The application also features a machine learning-driven robotrading service called Smart Predict to aid in improving users' limit and stop orders.
Whilst several other European investment platforms focus on commission-free trading, Scalable Capital has taken a fresh perspective by focusing on providing commission-free ETF investment. By doing this, the company encourages smart long-term ETF investments over riskier day-trading, tapping into a more mature market than applications focused on stocks. With further growth expected in 2024 after impressive Series E funding, Scalable Capital is carving out its market share.
