Role
Who you are
- At least 4 years of experience using Golang
- Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as React
- Excellent writing skills in English. Ability to create large documents in a clear, concise, and structured manner
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working on a customer-facing website
Desirable
- Experience with: Node.js, AWS/GCP/Azure, Linux, SQL, Web Development, Git
- Experience in NoSQL domain or distributed databases
- Relevant experience from a SAAS company
What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the team that is building the next-generation distributed NoSQL database and help build our DBaaS (Database as a service)
- Contribute to the design of the overall architecture of the web application
- Maintain code integrity, organization, and quality and ensure responsiveness of applications
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and launch new features
- Design & Build React Components for Scylla Cloud Web Application
- Design & Build APIs with Go to support the frontend
- Work closely with UX/Product to improve onboarding and product experiences
- Identify promising new technologies, articulate their value, and help the team adopt them
- Develop and maintain client-side and server-side applications
- Designing tests that will be implemented to keep software functional
Our take
SaaS databases are essential services for enterprises to manage their data, but past solutions run on expensive physical hardware that is restricted in terms of processing power. Recent cloud-based NoSQL alternatives such as Amazon's DynamoDB present better solutions for big-data enterprises, but the available options are expensive and not as efficient as they could be.
ScyllaDB provides an open-source NoSQL database that provides a faster, cheaper, and more resource-efficient alternative to existing cloud-based databases. The service uses a node-sharded design that allows each processor core of a computer to handle a different subset of data, providing a storage-efficient real-time database solution for big-data enterprises.
The company has taken a fierce stance against their competition by providing a migration tool that automatically allows DynamoDB users to switch to the significantly cheaper ScyllaDB with minimal code changes requires.
