Who you are
- This position demands a seasoned leader with a solid foundation in global accounting practices, a knack for strategic thinking and problem-solving, and exceptional communication skills to engage effectively across all organizational levels
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Extensive experience (typically 12+ years) in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, with a focus on global accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other international accounting standards
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
- Experience with Netsuite and advanced proficiency in financial software and tools
- Payments and FX experience is highly valued
- CPA or equivalent preferred
- Deep understanding of global financial systems, with the ability to navigate and apply international accounting standards effectively
- Strong analytical skills, with the competency to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the capability to engage collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring coherent and aligned financial strategies

What the job involves
- As the Vice President of Global Accounting, you will spearhead the comprehensive management and oversight of our financial accounting operations worldwide, ensuring impeccable adherence to international accounting standards and effective leadership of our global finance team
- To drive success in this role will require leading the development and analysis of financial reports in alignment with GAAP and IFRS, steering global financial consolidation, and driving strategic financial planning in sync with our corporate objectives
- Your expertise will be crucial in managing financial risks, enhancing internal control frameworks, and cultivating a team culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth
- You will also play a key role in optimizing financial processes, maintaining robust relationships with cross-functional teams, and staying at the forefront of accounting standards and regulations to guide your team's professional development
- Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international accounting regulations and standards
- Oversee the global consolidation process, managing the accurate and timely consolidation of financial results from multiple entities and regions
- Coordinate with regional accounting teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Identify and assess financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential challenges
- Work closely with internal audit and compliance teams to ensure adherence to internal controls and policies
- Build out Internal Controls framework and processes
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing global accounting team
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Evaluate and enhance financial processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline global accounting operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure alignment in financial processes and reporting
- Interface with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies as needed
- Stay abreast of evolving accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends
- Provide guidance and training to the accounting team to ensure ongoing professional development

Insurance plans and warranties are staples of a successful digital company, but setting them up is challenging. Businesses must compare and write contracts with insurance providers which require the expensive assistance of legal and financial teams, Add to this the cost of web designers who can embed the service online, and insurance and warranties quickly become unaffordable to smaller businesses.
Cover Genius provides end-to-end APIs called XCover and XClaim for embedding insurance and warranty plans onto online stores, preventing the business from having to compare, arrange and deploy insurance plans themselves. The company's policies are for any business, can be translated into over 40 languages, and are designed to be read easily without unnecessary jargon.
Whilst other insurtech companies offer similar services to Cover Genius, the company has uniquely focused on ensuring its plans are easily readable, translatable, and dynamically priced based on personal requirements. Although the company initially aimed to facilitate insurance and warranty plans for smaller businesses, it also partners with large enterprises such as Ryanair, Amazon, and eBay. In 2024 it secured impressive Series E funding off the back of a year where it achieved 107% year-on-year growth.
