Who you are
- Experienced technical leader
- > 7 years of total experience
- Experience with statistical analysis
- Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam
- Proven track record of leading a team to solve difficult technical challenges
- Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system
- A passion for good software engineering

- M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in Mapping and Localization
What the job involves
- The Waymo Mapping team's goal is to build a high resolution map of the world to support safe autonomous driving. We work on creating the map using a combination of automatic and manual techniques and build the infrastructure to store, process, and distribute the map. Our team collaborates with several other Waymo teams that consume map data
- Evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate map from raw data
- Work with onboard teams to evolve Waymo’s mapping format to make it more automation friendly
- Apply statistical analysis to validate large-scale changes
- Build backend infrastructure for storing and processing many forms of map data
