Our take

Appetize creates enterprise-grade Point of Sale systems for a wide range of food and drink and retail purposes. Specialising in contactless payments and mobile ordering, Appetize supplies terminals, handheld devices and mobile apps to its clients, as well as providing advanced cloud-based management tools.

Whilst most POS companies have focused on small and medium sized businesses (like Lightspeed and Square), Appetize has gone after the largest volume retail businesses, and counts Live Nation, Ole Miss University, Aramark and Madison Square Garden amongst its customers.

The recent surge in cloud and software-first POS solutions like those offered by Square and Shopify potentially poses a threat to Appetize's hardware-heavy model. But with a clear focus on the enterprise market, they're in a strong position to double down on their specialist tools.
