Role
Who you are
- 3+ months of Sales experience, either in Sales Development, Business Development, Customer Success or another related capacity
- We are mainly looking for German native speakers
- Hard worker and willing to achieve a high volume of daily activities while maintaining a positive and energetic attitude
- Experience interacting with customers and prospects, doing discovery calls and identifying sales opportunities
- Enterprise technology aptitude, open-source technology knowledge is a plus
- Background using CRM and sales engagement applications
- Passion for Sales and desire to excel
- Enthusiastic team player
- An appetite to sell to technology choice makers
What the job involves
- As a Sales Development Representative, you will be responsible for identifying and qualifying sales opportunities for the Confluent sales team. This position lays the foundation for a successful high tech sales career
- There is a clear career growth path within Confluent for the right candidate that is willing to learn, work hard, and succeed
- Respond to and qualify inbound interest from prospective customers, engaging with high-intent leads to understand their needs, assess fit and schedule high-quality meetings that turn into sales opportunities
- Leverage research and discovery to understand inbound leads’ goals , technical environments, and decision making processes, building trusted relationships with key stakeholders
- Provide potential prospects with information about Confluent and our product value
- Conduct conversations with decision-makers from key target organisations
- Collaborate closely with highly experienced and tenured Strategic and Enterprise Sales Account Executives and Regional Sales Directors
- Learn, leverage and help evolve our opportunity qualification and pipeline creation process
- Meet and exceed quarterly quota to ensure pipeline objectives, with the support of managers and teammates who are committed to your success
- Join a structured Sales training program with clear milestones and an established career progression plan for strong performers
- Participate in regular Sales enablement sessions, learning from the best in the business, and helping you develop the skills to excel in a Sales career
- This is a hybrid role where you will be required to attend the office 2-3 days a week
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time. The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
Now, it looks like IBM is eyeing the company for acquisition and Confluent looks to be a natural fit. Long positioned as the real-time backbone behind modern application, Confluent would gain global scale and an even deeper enterprise reach under iBM, while cementing its role at the center of AI-driven architectures. For COnfluent, the deal would marka shift from fast-growing independent disruptor to foundational infrastructure player powering the next wave of enterprise AI.
