What the job involves

Work closely with our News and Trending team to produce creative, clickworthy graphics to support their traffic driving content
Help maintain cohesive expressions of visual identity
Concept and produce custom artwork as directed for various brand channels including Editorial, and Social
Take ownership of assigned design projects, collaborate with stakeholders and other designers, take direction from Visuals/Creative/Art Directors, and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of creative assets
Collaborate with the UX design team and Design Operations team as needed
Attend meetings with stakeholders from editorial, social, video, and growth teams
Present design solutions and help build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders
Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big-picture thinking while identifying opportunities to raise the bar on the details
Keep requests management up to date, communicate progress, keep files organized, follow slack channels, and meet deadlines
Allrecipes is looking for a Junior Production Designer to work closely with the Visuals and Brand Design teams to craft cohesive digital design experiences. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create strong visual designs that support our digital content strategy and engage and delight our audiences
As a Junior Production Designer, you will be responsible for doing competitive research, designing the look and feel of various brand elements and refining and iterating on those ideas for various stakeholders, in a fast pace environment

Our take

Formed from the 2021 acquisition of Meredith by Dotdash, Meredith Dotdash is the largest digital and print publisher in the US, encompassing over 40 brands, such as PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, Verywell, Allrecipes, and many more.

The approach that built this media giant was to build websites with fast load-times and few adds. A clean site keeps readers longer, boosting its rankings in search algorithms. Ads can then be less frequent but sold at a premium, because of the readership. The company was also an early adopter of affiliate links through product reviews and articles that suggest items for purchase.

The merger of the Dotdash and Meredith teams and tech brought benefits in both directions, making Meredith sites faster and increasing story output for Dotdash. In 2023, the company launched a targeting tool named D/Cipher - that makes intent-based targeting possible at scale, without cookies. This showcases that the giant is entirely able to move at the front of the tech-evolving ad media landscape. Indeed, Meredith Dotdash is reportedly bucking the trend of news media financial downturns in 2025 with digital revenue increases of 13% year on year.
