At least 2 years of experience as an AE, AM in SaaS sales, OR 2+ years in a PR role
Full-cycle sales experience, including lead generation, pipeline management, and closing
Proven ability to carry a quota and exceed goals
Self-motivated, results-driven, and committed to personal development
Strong relationship builder with excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
Comfortable using email, phone, text, and social media to engage prospects
Dedicated to understanding customer challenges and providing solutions
Familiar with tools like Google Drive, Salesforce, Slack, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gong.io, CPQ, and Guru, with a willingness to learn new tech

We’re growing quickly, and we’re looking for a confident and driven Account Executive to join our team and introduce new prospects to Muck Rack, win new business, and contribute to our growth
As a Mid-Market Account Executive, you will be focused on winning new customers in the mid-market segment of Muck Rack. You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse range of agency and brand prospects. You’ll be a great fit for this role if building rapport and guiding prospects through a sales process comes naturally to you
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portion of Muck Rack sales leads
Achieve sales goals and meet activity quota requirements
Respond to inbound demo requests and prospect for self-generated opportunities
Demo Muck Rack at meetings, on calls and at events
Negotiate contracts and close deals
Become involved in the public relations industry
How success will be measured in this role:
Individual revenue goal
Pipeline generation and prospecting activity

Our take

Muck Rack was founded in 2009 as a platform for businesses to connect with journalists. As of 2022, tens of thousands of journalists have profiles on Muck Rack that are available for companies such as Google, Pfizer, and Duolingo to browse and employ writers from.

The nature of journalism has evolved since Muck Rack’s founding, with social media and digital outlets taking away market share from printed publications. As the landscape changes, Muck Rack has expanded its services to include a Public Relations Management platform.

It’s moves like this, as well as their shift to a “distributed” business (hybrid or remote), that have sparked renewed investor confidence in Muck Rack. Though the company has been bootstrapped since its founding, Muck Rack received its first outside funding of $180 million in 2022, underscoring the importance investors place on their platform.

With this substantial funding, the future is bright for Muck Rack, as it continues to roll out updates and new features to its platform. Digital content can go viral in a matter of hours, and the creators are not always journalists, meaning Muck Rack must remain agile and quick to respond.
