Who you are

Knowledge and Skill:
Building modern cloud services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
Backend web development, including best software engineering practices, efficient object-oriented software design, and building modern back-end systems (Python)
Building and developing APIs and restful web services (Node.js, Flask/Nginx, Docker, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy)
Front-end web development (Javascript, Typescript) and modern frameworks (React)
Working with Product and UI/UX designers, translating wireframes and requirements into web applications
Building data pipelines, logging, visualization, dashboards (Tableau, Looker)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years’ of work experience; or Masters Degree in Computer Science and 3+ years of work experience
This position is based in Hyperfine's office in Palo Alto, CA (minimum 3 days per week)
Top-notch written and communication skills in English
Ability to take part in on-call rotation to maintain service uptime
Ability to use and program a computer for 8 hours a day, five days a week

What the job involves

This role is for talented Software Engineers with applied experience in building modern cloud services and web applications
The goal of this role is to design and develop key software systems for remote setup, management, and monitoring of our fleet of devices and ingestion, storage, visualization, and retrieval of data at a large scale
This engineer will work closely with other software engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers, and subject matter experts across the organization to implement solutions for a wide range of challenging clinical problems in MRI aimed at improving patient outcomes
Across the organization they will make a significant contribution to the company’s overall vision of developing cloud services with a delightful look and feel
Develop software systems and cloud applications with focus on maintenance, extensibility, integration, and security of data storage and retrieval
Quickly learn new tooling, platforms, and frameworks, when building and developing microservices and APIs
Adoption of new policies, technologies, and practices, as well as the evolution of existing methodologies
Optimize frameworks, pipelines, visualizations, dashboards, and systems to remotely manage devices and facilitate collection of business analytics and reports across different products or domains
Translate wireframes and sketches into HTML and CSS and collaborate with frontend and fullstack developers across the organization to drive company-wide excellence in user interaction
Implement comprehensive medical web application systems for multiple large-scale internal and external facing projects and document the design and specifications for internal and regulatory documentation
Participate in the code review process

Hyperfine has received massive plaudits for creating Swoop, the world's first FDA-cleared portable MRI system. Swoop leverages AI technology which allows tests to be conducted quickly at the point of care.

The company was founded by Jonathan Rothberg – a serial health tech entrepreneur and winner of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, who has founded companies like AI-driven retina scanner Tesseract Health, and DNA sequencing company Quantum-Si.

In 2023, Swoop received CE Marking, meaning that it complies with safety and performance requirements in the EU, which opens the door for expansion into the EEA in the future. It also secured a grant to expand its research into low and middle-income countries, where it will investigate the effects of childhood malnutrition on school readiness and academic achievement.
